Thirdly, the paper discusses the development and subsequent in-service trials of the job-carrier. Lastly, the paper concludes by summarizing the findings from the design, FEA, and in-service trials.
Fig. 1 RRCAT cold walled dry pumped controlled atmosphere furnace for brazing, diffusion bonding, and heat treatment of accelerator components. 2. Design Methodology The work zone of the RRCAT vacuum furnace exhibits a cylindrical shape, which led to the selection of a cylindrical job-carrier with a diameter of 0.5 m and a height of 1 m with design temperature of 1200 deg C and maximum load capacity of 400 kg. The job-carrier is designed with three compartments, as illustrated in Fig. 2.
Fig. 2 Conceptual design of the TZM alloy job-carrier. The design utilizes standard components, including U-rail channels and plates connected using cotter pins. Stiffeners are incorporated to enhance rigidity, while slots are introduced for radiation heat transfer, thermocouple placement, and weight reduction of the assembly.
