The failure location in 4.2mm thick cylindrical shell membrane region was similar to that of subscale tank and was observed at 17.25 MPa against predicted burst pressure of 17.65MPa (from Svensson criteria for realized property of YS-1286 MPa, UTS-1318 MPa, % el. – 9.6) as shown in Fig. 11. Failure location was similar to subscale pressure vessel In each cycle of MEOP/proof pressure, repeatability of the measured values of strains was as expected. At proof pressure, good match was observed between predictions and test results, at all locations, as shown from Fig. 12. Linearity was observed in all the strain gauges up to proof pressure. Comparison between predictions and test results is given in Table-3. Hoop and meridional strains upto burst is shown in Fig. 13.
