A displacement of 20 mm is given at Location-A (Figure 3), and the hoop stress (S22) distribution along the circumference of the pipe bend at 7 bars pressure, and 20 mm displacement are shown in Figure 8 and plotted in Figure 9. The maximum tensile stress is found on the outer crown region of the pipe bend. Hence, the crown region is considered the critical location to study the maximum strain accumulation.
