Observation of Nickel and Chromium coated specimen subjected to tensile and compressive strain are shown in fig. 10. Cracks observed at different locations on the coating especially in the gauge length portion in visual inspection with magnifying glass. Cracks seen in dye penetrant test also. In the subsequent tests, new cracks seen in different locations in visual inspection and dye penetrant test. But no coating peeling observed. (a) Tensile strain testing (b) Compressive strain testing
