2. Literature on Ratcheting Studies
Ratcheting is defined as the directional progressive accumulation of plastic deformation of a material when subjected to a primary load along with a secondary cyclic load [Paul (2019)]. It is the cycle-by-cycle accumulation of plastic strain on application of cyclic load with constant stress amplitude and non-zero mean stress [Vishnuvardhana et al. (2013a)]. The effect of cyclic loads on a material is well illustrated in Figure 2 [Paul (2019)].
