5. Conclusions The three methods shown here have resulted in an in-depth understanding of elastomer components in modern passenger cars. Requirements for elastomeric bushings can be determined much faster and more precisely by the presented model extension. The description of parameter-property relationships has been extended by data-driven methods and allows the design parameter space to be determined in the early vehicle development phase. A damage pattern specific test method with synthetic block signals allows a significant reduction of the test time by up to 85%. A new research project called ElaSenTex has been initiated to exploit the potential of elastomer components. The project aim is to measure the occurring loads in the chassis while driving. Therefore, textile patches are inserted into the bushing, which can be used to measure in situ deformations. The measurement of forces and deformations at chassis interfaces are important for describing the effective chains from wheel to body. Later, they can be used for predictive maintenance, autonomous driving and to improve advanced stability control systems.
