Among them, the proof of reliability for an e-Drive system is a key requirement addressed by VALEO through a dedicated methodology. The most important criteria for the design of a complete e-Drive system is a sufficient strength of all components, but not oversized neither! The limiting stress is determined based on a failure probability of the material strength value determined during the measurement of the Wohler curve. In reducer, example gear strength expressed in safety factors for bending, contact etc., and bearing strength are expressed in lifetime. In such situations, how to identify the e-Drive system is safe, also the inherent failure of probability of the methods for different components varies. This paper presents a method to transfer the safety factor of each component into a failure probability based on a Weibull distribution, considering material properties. After this step, it is easy to obtain a probability function for the failure of the full system over lifetime. © 2023 The Authors. Published by ELSEVIER B.V. Introduction Electric drives are the key technology to decarburization the road transport and VALEO is committed to achieving the carbon neutrality by 2050. To combat the goals, VALEO developed its products in all the domains and thanks to our product portfolio, we are well positioned in the market. The fig-1 shows the VALEO ’s products portfolio for the mode of transportation from low to high-end vehicles.
