Figure 1 . PSM-based fatigue assessment of weld toe and weld root failures in welded joints made of structural steels tested in the as-welded or stress-relieved conditions and subjected to Constant Amplitude (CA) (Meneghetti and Campagnolo 2020) or Variable Amplitude (VA) (Campagnolo et al. 2022; Vecchiato et al. 2023) (a) pure mode I and (b) multiaxial local stresses. The design scatter bands for pure mode I (λ = 0 in Table 1) and for multiaxial local stresses (λ > 0 in Table 1) have been calibrated in (Meneghetti and Lazzarin 2011) and (Meneghetti 2013), respectively, and are not fitted on the experimental data shown in the figure. 2. Automated implementation of the PSM and variable amplitude fatigue life estimations An interactive analysis tool has been developed in Ansys ® Mechanical to support the FE analyst in automating the fatigue design of complex welded structures (Visentin et al. 2022a). The developed application is based on the Ansys ® Customization Toolkit (ACT) and allows to consider both uniaxialand multiaxial local stress states according to the
