points to compare. Milled faces of S960MC resulted in better fatigue performance compared to laser-cut and water-jet faces. This result displayed that S960MC is less tolerant to defects than S700MC. At high-cycle and infinite-fatigue lives, both grades were superior to the design curves proposed by EN1993-1-8 (2005) and EN13001-3-1 (2018), highlighting a potential for thickness and weight reduction in designs. Instead of FAT80 and FAT90 design curves proposed by the aforementioned standards, it is suggested that FAT160 with slope m = 5 can be used as a design curve with the UHSS grades tested in this study. Contrary to the requirements, the level was attained with punched holes and without any burr removal, underlining further potential.
