framework, the crack growth direction follows the location of the particle with max ( σ i 1 ) around the crack tip, in which σ 1 is the maximum principal stress. On the other hand, the interaction deletion framework follows the location of max ( 1 2 ( σ i 1 + σ j 1 )). As a comparison, an experiment result of an oblique centre-crack tension specimen can be found in Pustejovsky [1979]. The study showed that at the beginning of the crack propagation, the crack path tends to deflect and then make a perpendicular path to the load direction. Based on the test, the interaction deletion framework give better crack path prediction.
