for the in-plane direction. The SBFEM implemented with the Gauss-Lobatto-Legendre Spectral Collocation approach has advantages in ease and speed in including the viscoelastic e ff ect in the estimation of dispersion curves. Thee ff ect of the coating in the phase velocity behavior is shifting the cut-o ff frequency to higher values; in the case of the attenuation, the cut-o ff frequency for the di ff erent wave modes trend to reduce to zero as the frequency increases, with the exception of the S 0 mode. The results obtained can be used to design test conditions based on the dispersion, the wave structure, and the attenuation of the wave modes in viscoelastic-coated plates. The implementation presented here could be extended to materials or specimens where the structure has more than two layers.
