The load application in the simulation was applied in two steps: a preload phase and the 2.3MN load application. The first phase is necessary to avoid any movement of the connection which could cause a premature failure of the entire structure, for this reason a 2.4 [MN] preload (F P ) was applied. The second phase was the application of 2.3[MN] load on the top of the fork shape section (TP). The load application timeline defined in various simulation steps can be seen in Figure 12.
