4. Summary Thrust type rolling contact fatigue tests were carried out for the CrAlN coated specimens laser-quenched after coating process, and the effects of laser power on the delamination initiation life was investigated. And the reason for the variation of delamination initiation life for laser power was discussed. The following conclusions were obtained. (1) Delamination initiation life of CrAlN coating under rolling contact fatigue was improved by laser quenching after coating. (2) The variation of delamination initiation life was affected by the adhesive strength and hardness of CrAlN coating. (3) Laser quenching after coating with the suitable laser power would be an effective way to improve the performance of ceramic coated ball bearing.
