5. Experimental study for actual steel bridge
Fatigue cracks were found in the structural members of the Seto-Ohashi Bridges connecting the Honshu and Shikoku islands in Japan during their 21st-year inspection. Several repair works were applied to the structural members. The stress distributions around the fatigue cracks were measured before and after the repair works by the TSA technique when live loading acted on the bridge and the effectiveness of the severity reduction using these repair methods was investigated (Sakagami 2017).
