The most severe load case was the central impact in the center of the searchlight pod, where the highest amount of structural energy absorption was observed. All in all, the bird strike resistance could be shown for all load cases. These analyses were accepted by the authority as means of compliance and demonstrate t oday’s progress in airworthiness certification by simulation.
