3. Conclusion A numerical procedure for the seismic assessment of ancient masonry churches has been presented. The procedure attempts to establish a link between the global behaviour of the church and the evaluation of local mechanisms through a two steps procedure. The numerical results demonstrate the ability of the proposed model to describe well the crack patterns in the masonry after the earthquake, capturing the weakness of the structure under seismic events. Further case studies with different layouts will be analyzed.
