2. Risk classification according to existing Bridges Guidelines The classification of bridges on a territorial scale consists in the estimate, simplified and expeditious, of the "risk" factors associated with the roadworks, surveyed, and inspected in Levels 0 and 1 as reported in Bridge Guidelines. The classification method provides for the determination, for each bridge, of the so-called "Overall Attention Class" that is determined by the combination of 4 partial ACs linked to 4 different types of risk. The determination of each overall AC is the result of the combination of hazard, vulnerability, and exposure factors, using classes and logical operators. ACs allow to: • weigh separately the defects, present according to severity without reducing the evaluation to a single index; • immediately distinguish bridges characterized by serious damage (even if localized) on critical elements.
