2.3. Progressive digitalization The creation of digital databases and the progressive digitization of works is the fundamental element of the overall process of promoting safety, based on knowledge, objective of the existing LLGG Bridges. The digitalization introduction in construction information processes, i.e. a digital approach oriented to BIM, offers numerous potentials such as: • effective management for the rationalization of historical information on materials; • an active inspection/maintenance collaboration; • a homogenization of information from sensor systems; • a single documentary and chronological database; • a database suitable for the extraction of the necessary calculation models; • integration with any data sharing environment (Common Data Enviroment - CDE) of the operator of the work; • the comparative availability of relevant data; • the possibility of preparing a navigable 3D model for real-time integration in the yard; • a general improvement in the way infrastructure managers communicate, manage and exchange information; Any operation relating to data exchange procedures shall be carried out, in accordance with the above, where possible, in an open format and/or in the various alternatives available. In BIM this methodological approach is better known as openBIM. Digital information management is also important to:
