Each step is described in the paragraphs below. 2.1 Thermomechanical Simulations

Following graphs describe the complete method to calculate stress levels on cylinder head for each engine speed / engine load pair: several types of simulations are necessary to achieve these analyses: 1D combustion simulation, 3D FEA combustion simulation, 3D FEA thermal and thermo-mechanical simulations.

Stress levels used in the damage analysis are extracted from the thermal + PCP steps and also the idle step.
