As the main maintenance costs are known to be caused by the lines repair and the failures removal, so more reliable line sections as for their design reliability and resistance to the external impact should be selected for gas transportation. The developed mathematical model under consideration makes it possible to characterize the technical state of certain sections of the gas pipeline lines and corresponds to the following characteristics: simple in use, accurate enough in calculations, makes it possible to include as many characteristic criteria as possible and to make a comparative analysis of the technical state of both the specified sections and the whole gas pipeline lines as well.
