Abstract The integrity management of transporting pipeline systems is one of the important technical-economic problems nowadays. The aim of the paper is to present the role of external reinforcing technics on the integrity reconstruction of damaged transporting steel pipelines, based on full-scale tests. Externally reinforced seamless and seam welded steel pipeline sections without girth welds were investigated; fatigue and burst tests were executed. Different fiber reinforced polymer matrix composite wrap systems were used for the reinforcing of the artificially damaged pipelines. The testing results and the damage histories were compared with each other; safety factor was defined and used for the assessment of the effectiveness of the reinforcing systems. © 2021 The Authors. Introduction Nowadays, the safety and reliability of a structure or a technical system is one of the most important features of the structure or the system itself. On the one hand, this is a requirement; on the other hand this is a task for the structural and technological designers, manufacturers, operators and maintainers. The regrettable accidents always draw attention to this fact; and data analyses and summary studies about these form significant and global messages from This is an open access article und CC BY-NC-ND l cense (https://creativecomm 4th International Conference on Structural Integrity and Durability, ICSID 2020 Integrity reconstruction of damaged transporting pipelines applying fiber reinforced polymer composite wraps J.
