Test samples were cut from pipe fragments of different sections of the Taas-Tumus-Yakutsk gas pipeline after fifty years of operation. The investigated pipes were made of 09G2S low-alloy steel. The obtained results of the mechanical testing of the samples were compared with the data of the certificates for pipes, which were determined based on the results of spectral analysis. A decrease in the values of relative elongation and impact strength of the base metal has been established is comparison with the data of the certificate. The investigation of changes in the properties of pipe steels during long-term operation has made it possible to evaluate the technical condition of the pipe material and to develop forecasts regarding the prospects for the further safe operation of existing gas pipelines. © 2020 The Authors.
