4. A note on residual stresses
Numerical simulations in COPRA R RF and COPRA R FEA RF are being conducted in order to obtain and analyze the Z-rail with internal residual stresses. These simulations are using both the real roll-forming machine, as well as the real elasto-plastic material obtained through experimental data. Figure 6 shows some initial results of these numerical simulations. The figure shows the residual tangential stresses on the Z-rail, left over from the cold roll-forming process. As shown in the figure, residual stresses in the inner surface
