4. Conclusions During the high-speed penetration of an irregularly shaped projectile into a titanium alloy barrier, a structural change occurs: the formation of twin nets, twins of the same direction, adiabatic shear bands, rotational sections and micro-macrocracks. The interference of the direct and reflected shock waves and the self-organization of localized plastic deformation bands leads to the formation of target fragments in the region of its free surface.
