6. Closure: A Tribute to Jorge Manrique The river patterns in cleavage (C) fractographic mode, marking the direction and sense of fracture propagation, allow a connection with the famous Spanish writer Jorge Manrique who wrote a very important literature work: “Coplas a la muerte de su padre: nuestras vidas son los ríos que van a dar a la mar, que es el morir” , in English: Verses to the death of his father: our lives are the rivers flowing down to the sea, that is the death . In Memoriam The author wishes to dedicate this paper to his father, Andrés Toribio, who passed away in 2007. Acknowledgements The author wishes to kindly acknowledge the financial support provided by the following Spanish Institutions: Ministry for Science and Technology (MICYT; Grant MAT2002-01831), Ministry for Education and Science (MEC; Grant BIA2005-08965), Ministry for Science and Innovation (MICINN; Grant BIA2008-06810), Ministry for Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO; Grant BIA2011-27870) and Junta de Castilla y León (JCyL; Grants SA067A05, SA111A07 and SA039A08).
