The force displacement results obtained with three different mesh sizes are shown in Fig. 8 b. The obtained results for 3, 5 x h h   and 7 h are nearly identical with the numerical results in Turon et al. (2010). It can be noted that, the mesh convergence is obtained for the mesh sizes smaller than 5 x h   . PD mesh size is taken as 5 x h   for the further investments for computational efficiency. a
