Note that in Fig. 12 (a) the actuator at the top is also cylindrical but made by locking a small cylinder in place between pneumatic claws, which did not touch the T-joint panel, but were close enough to prevent it from buckling under load due to an eventual asymmetry in the displacement applied. Next the same parameters as in the previous specimen were measured in a tensile test, Fig. 13.
