s Fn , q s and L are related only to the gear geometry and therefore they can be easily calculated with the equations included in ISO 6336-3 (2006). Some considerations have to be done regarding h Fe and α Fen because they are related to the outer point of single contact but, as we are dealing with STF test, we do not have two gears in contact. In the ISO 6336-3 (2006) standard, which suppose two meshed gears, h Fe and α Fen depend on d en ; that is the diameter of the outer point of single pair tooth contact. In our case, h Fe and α Fen and, subsequently, Y F and Y S , have been calculated with reference to the diameter where the load is applied.
