Twinning-detwinning behavior as a function of alloying content in Mg-Al binary alloys was investigated during cyclic loading. Combination of neutron diffraction, acoustic emission and electron microscopy was used for detailed characterization of the evolution of twin nucleation and growth with respect to applied stress. The results approved that the increasing alloying content hinders the twin growth, which has a direct impact on the magnitude of the anelasticity observed during loading-unloading cycle. 1.
