5. Future work As specified in section 3, three more drafts are expected before the end of the contract for the Project Team. Drafting of each new draft will pass through the same procedure: commenting on the previous draft, within the Working Group (SC 3/WG 9), commenting on the draft within the Sub-Committee (SC 3), taking into account of the comments and all other available sources in drafting the subsequent draft. The procedure concerns the Second draft, the Third draft (sometimes called Final draft), and the Final document, due for April 2021. After that date, the contractual Project Team will come to the end of its existence and the comments coming from NSBs or other sources will treated exclusively by SC 3/WG 9 members. If all goes as planned, the new EN 1993-1-9 on fatigue of steel structures could see the day as a European standard shortly after 2023.
