FOSS based on Bragg gratings written in a standard single-mode optical fiber, were used to measure strains in the experiment. FOSS was attached to the surface of the sample by adhesive bonding. To determine the most efficient sensors location, calculations of the stress-strain state based on the finite element method were performed. Three-dimensional finite elements with discretizations which ensure the mesh refinement in the stress concentration zones were used in the implementation of the finite element procedure.
