5. Economics The use of an existing platform would help achieve substantial savings on account of non-requirement of a new platform. The total cost of decommissioning, well P&A and structural strengthening/refurbishment for a typical 4 legged platform with average 6 conductors will cost around 13-15 million USD against an average cost of 25 million USD for a new platform. This project would also help in realizing early monetization from the new offshore fields. Additionally, a comparative study was also carried out to compare the economic implication of platform refurbishment and strengthening in offshore and in yard respectively considering the vessel/barge mob/demob costs,
