5. Conclusions
The effects of several parameters of the MTX/ITZ/AGG system on the fracture behavior have been studied in this work. A crack with its tip at the MTX/ITZ interface has been modelled numerically in the 3-point-bending test specimen and the values of the critical load have been investigated by means of the mean tangential stress value criterion and generalized strain energy density factor criterion. If it is feasible to control the properties of the ITZ layer (its thickness and Young’s modulus ), it has been proved that they influence the critical value of the applied load significantly. Also, a larger radius of the stiff aggregates can be recommended to enhance the fracture resistance of the cement-based composite.
