Bending experiments have been also conducted in HAI on specimens out of Al-Li alloy 2080 T8E30 and 2198 T3 in LT directions, Table 4. The bending radiuses performed for Al-Li alloys are smaller in comparison to the related limits of conventional 2024 alloys of the same thickness and tempering.

3.3. Surface treatments
SEM-EDX analysis after the cleaning steps and before the surface treatments is depicted in Fig.6. HAI conducted Cr-free special processes for the corrosion protection and the paint adhesion promotion of new generation Al alloys. Two main treatments were followed: (i) Thin Film Sulfuric Acid anodizing (TFSAA) with and without sealing, and (ii) SolGel application. Samples treated with (i) and (ii) were tested against corrosion protection. In both routes the processed samples were then coated with Cr-free primer and Cr-free topcoat and tested accordingly.
