The variation of the remaining two Cartesian stress components, σ yy and σ xy , along the same as previously loci are shown in Fig.5. It is seen that the distributions along the strip edges fulfill (according to a quite satisfactory manner) the boundary conditions imposed. The non-zero values of σ yy and σ xy along the notch flanks (in the interior) are to suffice the zeroing of the boundary stress components σ ηη and σ ξη along the notch flank (approaching the strip from its exterior).
