However, the mechanical properties in the as- built condition require additional post processing to improve overall mechanical performance. This study investigates the mechanical characteristics of AlSi10Mg specimen fabricated by DMLS under tensile and fatigue loading. As built specimen and heat-treated specimen were subjected to tensile and fatigue life testing to obtain the mechanical properties. The tensile testing results show that the heat treatment improved both strength and ductility by increasing the ultimate tensile strength from 280.4 MPa to 310.2 MPa and the elongation increases from 4.3% to 14.7%. On the other hand, fatigue testing results show the promising improvement in fatigue resistance for heat treated specimen as compared to as-built specimen. This finding provides a preliminary insight into the mechanical characteristics of DLMS fabricated AlSi10Mg for engineering applications and highlights the need for further comprehensive investigations.
