5. Conclusions As a result of the theoretical calculations and experimental studies performed, it was established that the stress values in the calculated most stressed cross-sections of the arch chords in the case of prestressing of the strut have the opposite sign compared to the stress values from the action of the external loads. Creating initial stress in the arch strut through its pre-tensioning allows the maximum stresses in the design cross-sections of the upper chord of constant height along its length to be reduced, thus obtaining a reserve of bearing capacity according to ultimate limit state of 10-15% compared to a similar structure without pre-stressing. The obtained results of experimental studies generally confirmed the theoretical premises: the average discrepancy between stress values is 5.5%, with a maximum of 6.8%.
