4.Conclusions 1. Reinforcement of CLT panels increases their structural stiffness and reduces longitudinal stresses in the timber. Stress concentrations develop around the reinforcing bars, and these concentrations should be taken into account in structural design. 2. The investigation of reinforcement spacing in CLT panels reinforced with steel bars demonstrated that spacing has little effect on deflection and longitudinal stress values. However, reinforcement spacing substantially affects shear stresses induced by the introduction of reinforcing bars. Considering both the mechanical behaviour and fabrication effort, an effective spacing is approximately equal to twice the panel thickness. At this spacing, shear stresses remain moderate and do not significantly alter the structural behaviour. 3. Based on the numerical analysis, reinforcement can be recommended as an effective method for increasing the load-bearing capacity and stiffness of CLT panels. Reinforced CLT panels can sustain higher loads, enable material savings, and expand the range of their potential applications in construction.
