The effectiveness of NDT techniques can be further improved by combining multiple methods (Lim and Cao, 2013). Such insights are crucial for improving design codes, assessment methodologies, and retrofitting techniques for existing infrastructure, particularly in seismic engineering, where understanding the residual capacity of degraded elements is paramount. 6. Open-Sky training centers The planned decommissioning of certain state road sections in Italy represents a strategic opportunity to establish "Open Sky" training centers — real-world, open-air laboratories dedicated to inspector training and infrastructure experimentation.
