2.3. Hydraulic Power System The hydraulic system combines pump/motor units with hydraulic accumulators, ensuring peak performance and continuous oil flow. Rigid pipes connect pumps to the fixed table, while flexible pipes accommodate the movable table. All piping is installed under the floor or at ceiling level to facilitate inspection and maintenance. Modular hydraulic accumulators beneath each table allow actuators to complete full strokes without drawing oil from the pumps, even at maximum velocity. 3. Flexibility and Applications of the Laboratory STRIC is conceived as a highly adaptable research infrastructure, supporting a wide spectrum of experimental programs and collaborative studies on complex hazard scenarios. Its versatile design allows simultaneous testing of multiple structural and non-structural systems, providing critical insights into interdependencies that govern resilience under adverse conditions. The laboratory accommodates experiments on structural and infrastructural components, as well as non-structural systems such as electrical and energy networks, enabling comprehensive performance evaluation under multi-hazard scenarios. Hybrid simulation further extends STRIC’s capabilities by coupling physical testing with real -time numerical models, allowing cost-effective, scalable, and realistic assessment of complex structures. This approach enhances scenario-based disaster management, risk evaluation, and multi-hazard mitigation strategy development. STRIC also serves as a hub for national and international collaborations, welcoming universities, research institutes, and industrial partners. Advanced experimental capabilities facilitate research in earthquake engineering, multi-hazard mitigation, and climate-resilient infrastructure, amplifying the impact of scientific investigations through synergistic networks.
