contrasting flakes well inserted in the thickness. Going higher up, a steel curb-tie (Fig. 6) will be built at the level of the impost of the roof so as to bind the masonry at this level as well, and finally, the portion of the roof of the chapel will be completely rebuilt, eliminating the incongruous Varese joist roof now present (but, as mentioned above, compromised by the movements that have occurred over time) and rebuilding a new one in glulam joists with the thrust eliminated, very light, to contain the masses at the seismic level. 5. Conclusions The renovation of an existing building, and even more so for a listed historic building such as the one described in this memoir, is an operation that can only be carried out if there is a strong synergy between all the figures involved. Clients, technicians, site operators and companies employed, all must “row” in the same direction without anyone putting themselves on a pedestal to give lessons, but all willing to learn something because our profession always puts us in front of new and unforeseen situations. And that is what drives our work and makes it interesting and challenging. We hope we have accounted for it in this narrative! 6. Acknowledgements We would like to thank the Curia Vescovile of Faenza and the Parish priest of San Michele in Brisighella (in the person of Don Marco Ferrini) who chose our firm as structural engineers for the church restoration project, and Arch. Davide Cristofani (architectural designer and general works director) for having actively collaborated with us in all phases of the construction site. 7. References Cangi, G., 2025.
