retrieved from the literature. A good correlation between the frequencies and few geometrical parameters (span length and deck depth) was observed, more notable in the case of simply supported decks. For continuous decks, the correlation may be affected by additional parameters related for instance to the number and regularity of the spans. In all cases it must be pointed out that experimentally the two flexural modes may alternate with other modes whose characterization is less clearly defined (torsional or plate-like modes) especially in the case of short length-to-width ratio of the decks. The expressions evaluated can represent a starting point for the development of fast yet reliable procedures for large-scale structural assessment of bridges; also, in future research they will also be coupled to experimental techniques including automated visual inspection and contact-less ambient vibration tests to develop integrated protocols for structural health assessment of bridges.
