4. Conclusions This study presents a comprehensive and effective design methodology for the seismic retrofit of RC buildings employing dissipative exoskeleton systems. This innovative approach is particularly well-suited for strategically important and seismically vulnerable structures that must maintain operational functionality throughout the retrofit process, minimizing disruption to occupants and building services. The exoskeleton solution is designed to be both rapid in implementation and minimally invasive, offering a reversible retrofit alternative that not only strengthens the structural framework but also enhances the building’s overall energ efficienc and environmental performance. The proposed strategy employs P-Spectra to establish a direct relationship between performance levels and mechanical properties of the dampers. Through rigorous nonlinear time-history analyses, the effectiveness of this method has been demonstrated by significant reductions in critical seismic response parameters, including inter-story drift ratios and peak acceleration values. These improvements underscore the capability of dissipative exoskeletons to substantially increase seismic resilience, reducing potential damage and enhancing occupant safety during seismic events.
