The isolators are located in a fully underground technical room, accessible through a floor hatch located behind the altar. The Ciborium remains separated from the surrounding floor of the church; in fact, the so-called “isolation plane” can be observed by looking at the horizontal gap between the first and second steps of the stairs surrounding the Ciborium columns and the high altar. From the studies and analyses performed, it appears that seismic isolation is, in all probability, the only solution capable of drastically reducing the seismic risk without invasive interventions on the monument itself, achieving the desired level of seismic upgrading.
