For the seismic action the structure has been assumed non-dissipative, assigning a behaviour factor q = 1.50. The design seismic action at SLV limit state is defined by a PGA of 0,192 g, corresponding to: return period 475 years, sub-soil category C, nominal life 50 years, coefficient of use 1,0, reference period 50 years. The fundamental periods of the building resulted T 1 = 2,26 s, in transverse direction, and T 2 = 0,758, in the longitudinal directions. 5. Progress of construction The construction of the building is at present quite terminated. Fig. 10 shows pictures taken during the works.

6. Conclusions Use of prefabricated r/c systems can be critical when stringent limits on lateral deformability are set. The insertion of bracing systems can mitigate the criticality but in some case they interfere with the internal operations. The “continuity” of beam -column nodes obtained with the calibrated insertion of special connecting elements, performing in elastic, or even in plastic range, can stiffen the structural scheme. The solutions have been applied to the example illustrated in the paper, concerning the largest prefabricated building housing a paper mill in Europe.
