Peak Ground Velocity ( PGV ): This metric considers the maximum absolute value of the velocity time-history, and it well correlates with structural damage (Yamazaki & Murao, 2000). The GMPE relation used for this parameter is taken from (Bindi et al., 2011) The validation is carried out using direct comparison, for which simulated data are plotted in conjunction with Ground Motion Prediction Equations (GMPEs) so that a visual comparison of the degree of similarity between simulations and empirical estimates can be made. Figs. 4 and 5 show the results obtained for ( = 0.5s ) and PGV, respectively. The black lines represent the GMPE median value, while the dotted lines represent ± 1 × and ± 2 × standard deviations of the GMPE median values. Finally, the red scatter points represent the simulated value.
