the joint gaps result large enough to avoid pounding between abutments and deck and between the two parts of the deck in the mid-span joint, actually considering the nonlinear behavior of the load bearings increase deck displacements and pounding should be reassessed. Since the nominal strength of load bearings and shear keys were exceeded, further investigation on the bridge should focus on the post-elastic behavior, evaluating any plastic behavior and the actual capacity of the devices, in order to better model the seismic response of the structure.
