Fig. 3. Work on vertical structures of Casino delle Delizie Branconio L'Aquila: nanocalci spray application, penetrometric test on mortar consolidated with nanocalci, consolidation of the masonry with hydraulic lime mortar injections.
In the presence of decorative stone materials, the connection with the masonry must be verified, any connections must be dimensioned and these elements must be taken into account as stiffeners of the vertical structures. For the reconstruction and reintegration of the collapsed stone elements such as the pillars, arches and cross vaults of the loggia of palazzo Ardinghelli in L'Aquila, prior to the execution of the reconstruction work on the pillars, the stone elements of the pillars and arches from the collapse were assembled. This assembly is carried out dry to assess the extent of the gaps and their reintegration. The collapsed pillars of the loggia, once recovered by gluing the fragments together and reintegrating the gaps, were reassembled in situ first dry using steel pins, placed between each ashlar, and the insertion of steel strips arranged perpendicularly to the stone ashlar in order to give the ashlars solidity and prevent them from breaking open.

The reassembly of the dry-stone apparatus made it possible to check the correct position of the ashlars with respect to the height, the use of the stone ashlars and to verify from the inside whether the steel connection system could work. Following this, the pillars were filled with a new solid brick apparatus.
