Abstract After the last seismic events that almost entirely destroyed the village of Castelluccio di Norcia (Umbria, Italy), the Extraordinary Commissioner, the Umbria Special Reconstruction Office and the Municipality of Norcia identified in the reconstruction of the village one of the priority and urgent needs of the community. The paper illustrates the implementation of the project developed for the unitary reconstruction of the village. The project is based on the application of a seismic isolated platform, stepped due to the site orography, extended to the entire centre of the village, above which to construct buildings that will present the aesthetic and constructive characteristics of the collapsed original ones. This constitutes an original, innovative and effective method for the integrated unconventional post-earthquake reconstruction of an entire village. A Special Ordinance of the Government Commissioner entrusts the rebuilding of Castelluccio to the public management, within a single recovery program that integrates the construction of primary services and the restoration of both public and private buildings, in order to allow the complete rebuilding of the forma urbis , by restoring the morphology of the soil and the configuration of public and private spaces. The ordinance defines the actions and activities to be implemented for the overall rebuilding of Castelluccio ’ s historical center, with the purpose to restore the social and economic fabric, so configuring a type of post-earthquake urban regeneration. An advanced feasibility study was initially carried out, the executive design is currently at an advanced stage, preliminary works are already under way.
