2.2. Experimental procedures The fatigue tests were performed using an Instron 8872 servohydraulic testing system with a maximum load of 10 kN. The tests were conducted under stress-controlled uniaxial loading with a stress ratio of R = -1 and a test frequency of f = 1 Hz. A complex in-situ experimental measurement setup was used during the tests for the combined measurement of electrical resistance, the length and diameter and the temperature of the specimen. The setup ( Fig. 2 ) is explained in the following.
